Everyone's Clearing the Way for Silksong

Demonschool, Aeterna Lucis, and a few others are clearing space for Team Cherry to sorta-shadow drop what could be the biggest indie game of the year. Hollow Knight has garnered lots of positive attention since its launch, especially amid the pandemic when people were looking for things to play. It benefitted so much from word of mouth, and we’ll see how that pays off when SIlksong launches next week.

We’re getting a drip-feed of content about the next Pokemon game as we march toward its release in November. It’ll be playable this weekend at PAX West, and we’re hoping to check it out and let you know what we think! Hopefully it’s even better than the first outing of the Legends spinoff.

In other Pokenews, Pokemon GO is raising the level cap to 80 on October 15, which is a huge 30-level leap. If only we had some rare candy.

Crystal Dynamics took a hit today with some layoffs. While this isn’t explicitly related to Xbox’s cancellation of Perfect Dark, which the studio was assisting with, it wouldn’t surprise me if the two were related. Lucky for Tomb Raider fans, whatever they have in progress is allegedly fine.

In related news, T-Minus Zero, a studio under NetEase, sort of shut down this week. If you’re unfamiliar, we don’t blame you—they haven’t released any games since BioWare veteran Rich Vogel announced its start in 2023.

Adventure Paths are coming in hardcover books now, with four total still dropping every year. One of the major reasons for this change is, of course, trade tariffs affecting the cost of printing books.
