Everything We Saw at Summer Game Fest

Resident Evil, Pragmata, Crimson Desert, Deadpool VR? Say more!

Classic Puzzles & Horrifying New Monsters

We sent a team to Summer Game Fest last weekend, and they got to see and play all sorts of cool things. Perhaps one of the biggest things was a hands-off presentation of the next Resident Evil game, the surprising last reveal at Geoff Keighley’s showcase.

Aside from that, Capcom gave us some hands-on time with Pragmata, a game that our Editor Andrew Stretch insists is secretly a Mega Man game.

On the other, non-Buster hand, Austin Suther saw a short slice of Onimusha: Way of the Sword, and he’s excited to see what’s next for Miyamoto Musashi. If you missed the trailer at the Summer Game Fest showcase, we got you covered.

Our Editor in Chief Andrew Otton is convinced that Crimson Desert will be a big surprise hit when it launches, thanks to its complexity and depth. The only question is whether it’ll actually release this calendar year.

It was full of surprise announcements, like a confirmation of the Persona 4 remake, some gameplay footage of Clockwork Revolution, and my personal most exciting moment: the reveal of Mudang: Two Hearts. This game is like a stealthy conspiracy thriller set in Seoul, and it was so cool seeing my home city brought to life in a video game with such detail.

If you have a working PC or Steam Deck, you can check out Steam Next Fest to see more than 2,500 available demos this weekend. We rounded up 10 for you to start with, but there’s at least 2,490 more to explore!

In all this Summer Game Fest madness, one game had the guts to release amidst the onslaught of news, trailers, and demos. The Alters releases today, and you can read our review to see what this story-driven clone-focused survival game is all about.

The Alters isn’t the only game to launch in this madness. MindsEye hit PC and consoles this week, but maybe it really shouldn’t have. It had no pre-release reviews and performs horribly. Beyond that, I’m not sure if there’s… really a game in there? At least, not one worth its price. This is a crash and burn that might be on the level of Ride to Hell: Retribution or Duke Nukem Forever.
