Black Myth: Wukong Reviews Are Live

Plus, we got a release date for Dragon Age: The Veilguard!

Our resident soulslike expert Joe Allen (who also writes a lot of our news, by the way) dived deep into this Journey-to-the-West-adjacent game. It took him 28 hours or so to complete it for review, and for the most part, he enjoyed it from start to finish.

Personally, I’m glad to hear it landed from a product standpoint. Since the early days of seeing its gameplay, it’s always seemed a little too flashy to be true for me (think Watch Dogs E3 2012). But I’m glad this is a case where the product actually delivers, from a quality standpoint.

Halloween’s about to get a lot more spooky, because an old franchise is coming back from the dead. Well, Dragon Age wasn’t really dead, but “dormant” isn’t too far off.

Considering BioWare’s rocky reception in recent years, its future as a studio hasn’t felt as strong as it did back in its heyday. But this could be a turning point. While the gameplay for Veilguard can be a little divisive, I found it to be interesting. It’s a radical departure for the series—a risky one, but with risks comes potential rewards.

Remember, when Inquisition released almost 10 years ago (in November 2014), it also felt like a departure from Dragon Age’s CRPG roots. It wasn’t quite an action game, but it was the closest the series ever got—that is, until Veilguard. Here’s to hoping this game puts the W in BioWare.

Chai and Beat are putting on an encore! After Microsoft and Xbox Game Studios suddenly closed Tango Gameworks, it was a shock to everyone. But thankfully, Krafton, the publisher behind PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds and TERA, have come in to keep the music alive.

You might have been waiting for Kingdom Come: Deliverance II to come out this year, but it’s actually coming early next year instead. We’ll see a lot of gameplay reveals and more between now and then. Personally, I’m okay with this; the last few months of this year are shaping up to be chock full of games.

According to a now-changed PlayStation Store listing, Red Dead Redemption could be hitting PCs soon. No official announcement has been made, but Gamescom Opening Night Live is next week…

We’re swapping secret roles for critical roles, but you won’t have to roll for initiative to collect all the cosmetics. Tuesday’s update for Among Us included a collaboration with popular actual-play empire Critical Role, which includes some new kill animations if you get the right items.

Turns out, skins are popular. Counter-Strike 2 could be on track to make over a billion dollars this year, but it’s not all multiplayer games in the top 20 titles with the highest revenue. Baldur’s Gate 3, Dragon’s Dogma 2, and others have shown up for the list this year.

Additionally, Valve has announced that it’s going to crack down on link spamming and other generally annoying gimmicks that some people are abusing on its store pages. I’m excited about that, only because generally, Steam has become a more obnoxious place to shop around for new games.

These cannabis gummies keep selling out in 2024

If you've ever struggled to enjoy cannabis due to the harshness of smoking or vaping, you're not alone. That’s why these new cannabis gummies caught our eye.

Mood is an online dispensary that has invented a “joint within a gummy” that’s extremely potent yet federally-legal. Their gummies are formulated to tap into the human body’s endocannabinoid system.

Although this system was discovered in the 1990’s, farmers and scientists at Mood were among the first to figure out how to tap into it with cannabis gummies. Just 1 of their rapid onset THC gummies can get you feeling right within 5 minutes!

In our final preview of Visions of Mana, our writer Brittany Alva walked away with an overall positive impression of the upcoming Square Enix JRPG. The cast of characters is fun, and exploring the world is rewarding and satisfying. Its combat isn’t quite high paced, but its slower, deliberate speed gives you more time to focus on playing smarter instead of button mashing.

Actual play and TTRPG fans might be familiar with Jasper, who’s the creative behind 12 Sided Studios. This studio’s goal is to be “the go-to team for production support of promotional, creative shoots, films, and events while also making Actual Play, YouTube, and Twitch content.”

I wanted to make the subtitle “Caw of Poopy,” but I worried that would be read negatively. If you like the energy of Untitled Goose Game but prefer crows over geese, this game is for you.

Will Taskmaster and Dropout Collaborate? Maybe! Or Maybe Not!

But could you imagine Sam Reich saying “Your time starts now”? Or Lord Greg Davies saying “Lord Greg Davies says…”?

That’s how we start this week’s show, but then we dissect what makes a good video game adaptation. Can you translate game mechanics to the silver screen? Is there a right way to re-tell a story told through quest markers? We go into all that and more on this week’s TechRaptor Podcast!
