Hades 2 & Silksong in One Month??

Not to mention everything else in September and October.

September is full of surprises. We kicked it off with a sudden Silksong release, and now we’re ending it with an out-of-nowhere update for Hades 2 1.0. Suddenly, the race for indie game of the year—and even game of the year itself—is looking tighter.

Hades 2’s release date was revealed this morning at a very early Nintendo Direct, where Nintendo fired off a whole slew of announcements. There’s a new Pokemon game that looks like Animal Crossing, and a new Fire Emblem game was announced for next year. For classic JRPG fans, Dragon Quest VII is getting a full-on remake, and it won’t be in HD-2D.

We’ve got a report from the Daily Bugle about all the Secret Lair Magic: The Gathering cards you can expect from the Spider-Man set. You can see them all in our story above, including some sick-looking Venom cards.

No fluff. No filler. Just clarity that helps you stay ahead.

Editor in chief Andrew Otton and I scoured the show floor of PAX West (and adjacent areas) to bring you a quick list of exciting games you should keep on your wishlist, including a game that combines Slay the Spire with culinary competition.

We’ve got other previews from PAX on deck, too!

While Game Pass tends to be an easy bang-for-buck win for the average consumer, former Xbox Vice President Shannon Loftis turned a critical eye to the service, claiming that some games on the service tend to lose out on retail revenue in the long run. To be honest, that makes sense to me, considering there are lots of games on it that I wouldn’t have purchased but ended up playing a bit. I can only imagine the same is true for what Netflix did to movies.

Other former executives have been coming out of the woodwork, too. Ken Watanabe, a former Nintendo developer who worked on Pikmin 3 and Splatoon, said that Nintendo doesn’t need new franchises anymore. With the way they’re always reinventing Mario and Zelda, I’d believe it.

Soon, you won’t have to spend $10 to add $5’s worth of V-Bucks to your account. Well, unless you’re playing only on PlayStation, then you’re sort of stuck with the current system.
