Happy Switch 2 Release Weekend
See you in Mario Kart World!
Welcome to the New Era of Nintendo
Yesterday, the Switch 2 launched, and to my surprise, there’s some stock in stores and online. If you got one, congratulations! I hope you’re enjoying Mario Kart World.
There’s also reason to go back and try older Switch 1 games, too. Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are confirmed to run at 60 frames per second, bringing much-needed performance improvements to the latest Pokemon flagship title.
For No Man’s Sky fans, it’s getting a free Switch 2 upgrade if you already have the game. And Fantasy Life i, the latest breakout cozy gaming hit, is also on the Switch 2—and the developer is giving some free goodies due to hitting a new sales milestone.
The summer of games announcements is upon us, and Sony showed off the latest that’s happening in PlayStation land. We got a flashy trailer for the new 007 game and a confirmation for the Final Fantasy Tactics remaster, among lots of other exciting news.

You might remember that Microsoft shuttered Tango Gameworks last May, but Krafton came in to purchase it. Now, things seem to be going well, because the studio is hiring for a new action game. After Hi-Fi Rush’s surprising launch, I can’t wait to see what Tango does next.
Nightreign is riding the high from Elden Ring, and it’s already hit multimillion sales numbers, which is impressive for a multiplayer-focused spinoff. If you want to drop in with just one friend, that game mode is coming soon. And you could play solo, especially with the latest patch, but it’ll still be pretty difficult.
Things to Look Forward To
Stig Asmussen, who directed Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, founded his own studio called Giant Skull, and it’s working on an action-adventure Dungeons & Dragons game with Wizards of the Coast.
Ever played Catan, Ticket to Ride, or 7 Wonders? That’s all Asmodee, and its latest rebrand is putting a focus on you, the player. It’s worth noting that it also split off from Embracer fairly recently, so this rebrand is likely also a way to reclaim its own identity.
In other tabletop news, if you’re all in on the Final Fantasy x Magic: The Gathering set, you can get special accessories for your deck from Ultra Pro.
