Earlier this month, Rogue Factor invited me to its studio to check out Hell Is Us, its first-ever original IP. It mixes third-person melee action with cerebral investigative puzzling, so it really doesn’t hold your hand as you explore the world and uncover Hadea’s mysteries.

Beyond that, the game depicts humanity in a brutal way, showcasing our proclivities toward violence and tribalism. I chatted with the creative director, who also worked on Deus Ex: Human Revolution, about the themes and morals behind the story he and his team are trying to tell.
