It's a Big Day for Japanese Games
Are you playing Metaphor: ReFantazio or Dragon Ball?
By combining and refining some of the best parts of Shin Megami Tensei and Persona, Metaphor: ReFantazio stands as potentially the pinnacle in the realm of life-sim meets dungeon-crawling RPGs.
Our reviewer Andrew Stretch rated it a 9.5 out of 10, claiming it has leveled up the Persona formula in every way. With a huge story scope and many welcome quality-of-life improvements, it’s easily going to dominate my free time in these next couple weeks. And sounds like at least 999,999 others are joining me, too.

The other big game this week, Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero, is a long-awaited, much-anticipated one in the fandom. Budokai Tenkaichi 3 came out 17 years ago, and Sparking! Zero just takes everything from it and beautifully reimagines it in Unreal Engine 5.
I gave it an 8.5, with the what-if stories standing out to me as the most interesting part of the game, especially for anyone who grew up with the show. It looks fantastic in motion, with high-speed action that really sells the fights we’ve all seen in the show. It’s so good that it has three times the Steam player count high as Dragon Ball FighterZ.
Speaking of Unreal 5, things are drastically changing over at the newly rebranded Halo Studios. 343 Industries is no more, signaling a major shift in the Halo franchise.
Brought forth by Hindenberg Research, this comprehensive and lengthy report accuses Roblox Corporation of fostering an unsafe environment for minors and of lying to investors about engagement figures (among other things).
Of course, the Roblox Corporation denies these allegations.
Talk about an Epic win, huh? The judge in the case has ruled that the Play Store can’t be the alpha and omega of Android apps, and Google can’t require all payments to go through Google Play anymore.
Of course, Google plans to appeal the ruling.
In a fun twist of fate though, a side effect of this ruling is that Xbox can now sell games and make them playable through its Android app. Thanks, Epic!
