The Nintendo Switch's Last Hurrah?

The last Nintendo Direct before the Switch 2.

You can really feel the sun setting on Nintendo’s most successful console here. Everyone knows the Switch 2 is just around the corner, with that other—arguably more exciting—Direct slated for the morning of April 2.

There’s still a lot to look forward to for the Switch, though. A spinoff of AI: The Somnium Files is coming in July, along with a Pac-Man inspired metroidvania. A new Tamagotchi game is coming this summer, too (not to be confused with a new Tomodachi Life, which was also announced yesterday).

There’s also a lot of remakes and remasters coming to the Switch. Dragon Quest I & II, Patapon 1+2, and Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar are just a few that were shown off.

However, the most intriguing parts of this presentation to me are the big flagship titles that don’t quite have a solid release date yet. I’m looking specifically at Metroid Prime 4: Beyond and Pokemon Legends: Z-A. Both are still slated for this year, though without a specific day. Both would make excellent launch titles for the Switch 2, don’t you think?

One last little morsel here is Nintendo’s twist on sharing digital games with friends and family. It’s a unique virtual game card system that you can read more about in our story above.

And if you want more Nintendo news on the daily—literally—the company announced a new app called Nintendo Today, which you can download on your phone to get the latest from Mario’s house. For example, today it confirmed the release date for the live-action Legend of Zelda movie.

Games Workshop hosted its own big showcase, for those more into all things Warhammer. Dig into tons of new miniatures for newly announced armies, like the Grand Cathay army for the forces of the Order and some rad-looking space vikings.

The wait feels eternal for this one, huh? At least it’s coming out at an appropriate time—if it sticks to October, that is. World of Darkness executive VP Marco Behrmann said the game is practically done, but it needs bug fixing and testing.

Keep in mind, Path of Exile 2 is still in early access, but that arguably doesn’t matter too much for a live-service game like this. Even post launch, it’ll still keep getting updates, right? The big news here is the newly introduced Huntress class, which comes with some very sleek Ascendancy classes.
